1 - South Shetland to South Orkney
We left the anchor at Potter's Cove after visiting the people at the Carlini Base Station in the South Shethland Islands, Antarctica. On February the 20th we set out and sailed for 2 1/2 days. It was an experience... The very rigorous constant lookout for ice was tiring but necessary. We finally anchored in Factory Cove, Signy Island, Antarctica, in the evening. The next morning, we woke up to appreciate the wonders around us. We visited the Signy Island Research Station and sailed around the South Orkney islands before setting out for our next leg. We left from the Falkland Harbour, along the southwest side of Powell island, on March 1st, 2019.
2 - South Orkney to Tristan da Cuhna
On March 1st, we set off from the South Orkneys in the Southern Ocean to start our crossing of the South Atlantic Ocean. We had some rough weather but nothing bad. We hove to on two occasions for more than 24 hours and avoid the bad weather. It was becoming warmer and warmer with the days. Finally, after 15 days, we arrived at Tristan da Cuhna. We were lucky we could anchor and visit the settlement on the Island. Edinburg by the Seven seas is the world's most isolate settlement with 246 citizens (2020). On our way to Cape Town, we sail alongside Inaccessible Island. We anchored be the southeast side of the island for the day and set off for Cape Town on March 18, 2020.
3 - Tristan da Cuhna to Cape Town
We sailed for 12 days to finish our crossing of the South Atlantic Ocean. We reached Cape town on March 30, 2019. We had a very nice sail, but it was HOT. We had our Mexican hats on. We had not used them for a long time. Arriving in Cape Town was a busy place. We did a major refit on Jonathan in a small place called Saldanha Bay, north of Cape town, in preparation for our nexts legs in the Indian Ocean.
4 - Cape Town to The Kerguelen Islands
We left Cape Town on December 19, 2019. We enjoy good downwind sailing. We anchored off Cave Bay at Prince Edouard Island which is a South Africa island. Further east, we slowdown on the west coast of Baie des Cochons, Crozet Islands to enjoy the view at the King Pingouins colony. Along the way, we sailed along the south coast of Iles des Apotres. Just breathtaking. We stopped at Port Alfred for a minor repair. Port Alfred is the research station based at Possession Island, within the Crozet Archipelago, part of the French Southern and Antarctic Territories.
In the spectacular Kerguelen Islands, we had 2 ornithologists onboard Jonathan for 2 missions of scientific investigation and bird colonies counting. They were also investigating the behaviour and counting the Commerson Dolphin of the Kerguelen. People at the Research Station were very welcoming and helpful. We have good memories. After spending memorable time cruising along the north east coast. The wind was also memorable... By then, it was time to leave and set sail for another leg in the Indian Ocean. We left Port Mary, Kerguelen and set sail for Tasmania on February the 20, 2020.

5 - The Kerguelen Islands to Hobart
After 21 days of Spectacular downwind sailing in the Indian Ocean, we finally arrived in Hobart, Tasmania on March 13. Sailing from the Kerguelen Islands we had been in self-isolation for 21 days at sea when we arrived in the Port of Entry of Tasmania, Hobart. We had noticed the authorities of our arrival well in advance and everything went well for our entry in the country.
We spend 1,5 year in beautiful, wild Tasmania. During that time, we circumnavigated the island and performed a lot of maintenance the boat. We have very good memories of our time there. From Hobart in July 2021, we sailed through the Tasman Sea and arrived in Opua, New Zealand. We had a wonderful time in the New Zealand including a trip to the sub-Antarctic Islands (the Campbell and Auckland Islands) and sailing our way through majestic Fjordland.
