As for last year we will organize a unique slow pace trip to the remoter and usually inaccessible regions of Svalbard. Our daily program will be very flexible and will largely depend on the weather and ice conditions at the time. It is hoped to spend as much time ashore as possible. Searching out wildlife, the Arctic flora and visiting sites of particular historical interest. Svalbard is our sailing ground since 2002 but then each time we sail past Verlegenhuken in the North, we feel the excitement to go to unknown territory. Well if you look at these very basic maps of the area you will see why.

We will focus our search at times for the rarer species, hiking inland well inland. No all might want to go on those longer hikes. They can stay on board with one off the crew and maybe go for a shorter walk, or take the Zodiac for a trip. You will always be accompanied by one of the crew or the guide. We could of course encounter Polar Bears at any time and we will be paying particular attention to safety issues.

Many off you will be serious photographers or even professionals. Since this is a longer trip there will be plenty of time for you to spend on your work. Jonathan can handle a maximum of 9 guests next to the crew and guide. We aim to visit sites which are generally out of reach to larger ships. They have to pass by many places because of their size and depth. While we might be able to anchor behind a small spit and be perfectly sheltered. We are with a small group, giving us more flexibility, stealth and manoeuvrability. Such a small party will give little disturbance to wild and birdlife. Needles to say we take great care not to disturb any and leave only our footsteps on the beach.

For now we aim to be out for 21 to 27 days depending on the interest. If you are interested let us know if you have any specific interests, special wildlife, photography or …… So that we can fit things into this trip. We would like to be out as long as possible, giving us even more time to explore. Our experience it that; if you move slow or even stay put for some days will be rewarded by unique encounters with wildlife and get a real feel for the great nature around you.
