Planning for 2008
Isfjord

These trips are planned at the beginning and end of
the short sailing season. Specially with the first trip
we might encounter sea ice and other fresh circumstances. In the Isfjord which has a coast line
of more then 300 nautical miles you can get a great
experience of Svalbard.

We can sail to the Norden-skjøld glacier where we can get close to the 20 meter high glacierfront. Is our way blocked by ice, then we have a good chance to see different kinds of seals on it. Pyramiden is an abandoned Russian mining town still largely intact with a statue of Lenin.

We can good further back in time to visit an old trapper hut. At the entrance to the fjord is Alkhornet where it
is full of birdlife in that period. Not just the Alks but
also the Polarfox trying to steal eggs or catching young birds.

Reindeer we can see in many places. And there is so much more. Fossils in Carolinedalen, Puffins at Diabasodden. And the drama of Svenske Huset. And if the weather helps a bit we can lay quietly at anchor, the sun will stay high above the northern sky and we will have the whole place to ourselves.
