From Longyearbyen we will sail in one long trip to Bellsund. This is the place where the English had their whaling grounds. In Bellsund we saw lots of Humpback and Finwhales in 2006. The sund splits up in van Mijnen- and van 
Keulenfjord a reminder of the Dutch history of Svalbard.
There are several good and safe anchorages from where we can take, if we want longer hikes on shore. In the bottom of Recherche fjord are the remains of some old mining experience but we will more likely 
enjoy the dramatic views there. Calypsobyen is a small Polish research station which we can visit with a small group like ours. Part of the impressive landscape are the birdscliffs in the sund.
5 nautical miles into van Keulen-fjord is a Beluga graveyard. Here we can get an impression what our grandfathers slaughtered. Bellsund is a great place to experience Svalbard and even 6 days will be too short for this sund.
